How to apply for a research position at LMS

How to apply for a research position at LMS ?

  • Junior scientists:
the CNRS opens every year a few permanent positions (at the junior scientist level, typically PhD + 1-2 years of postdoc experience). The call for applications is usually open in December. Applications must be filed about one month after the call is opened (i.e. usually sometime in January). They must include a detailed research statement by the applicant, and be linked to a specific research unit (such as us). Anyone interested in exploring this possibility is therefore very strongly advised to get in touch and interact early with one of the senior LMS faculty for the purpose of collaboratively formulating a coherent research project.

Le 5 décembre 2007, le site web dédié aux concours de chercheurs ouvrira et les candidats pourront faire acte de candidature jusqu'au 9 janvier 2008.

For 2007, the web site will open on december 5th . Candidates can apply until January 9th, 2008.

  • Junior and senior scientists:
The Departement of Mechanics also offers faculty (full-time) or teaching (part-time) appointments. Positions are opened on a yearly basis. Applications must usually be filed by Feb. 15. Again, potential applicants are strongly advised to contact and meet LMS faculty.

  • Senior scientisis:
There are some possibilities for grants for the purpose of inviting visiting scientists (typically for stays of a few months).

  • Post-doctoral positions:
may be opened at any time, as they are often associated with research projects funded by agencies such as the National research Agency (ANR). They are posted in our web site .

  • Doctoral positions:
Funding for doctoral research exists under several public programs, and also in the framework of collaborations with industry. Some PhD opportunities are posted on our website. Moreover, prospective doctoral students are encouraged to contact LMS faculty people for the purpose of exploring other possibilities. In that case, it is important to attach a resume with all relevant academic information about yourself and, if available, recommendation letters.

  • Undergraduate students:
There are some possibilities for undergraduate stays (e.g. master theses). Again, please contact us if interested, providing in that case a resume with all relevant academic information about yourself.
